What a yummy snack that is! Your body will love it! Hemps seeds have a pleasant, rich nutty taste and are one of the best-known plant-based protein sources. Their superpower is that they contain an ideal ratio of Omega-3 and Omega-6 essential fatty acids and are known as a complete superfood.

Hempika hemp seeds are hand-picked and carefully selected to sustain as many nutrients as possible. But what is all the fuzz around hemp seeds even about? For a start, hemp seeds are exceptionally nutritious and rich in healthy fats, protein, and various vitamins and minerals, such as vitamin E, B1, B6, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, iron, and even smaller amounts of zinc, copper, manganese, and calcium.

Packed with protein (more than 25% of their total calories are from high-quality protein!), hemp seeds are considered a complete protein source. What does that mean? That they provide all the essential amino acids, which are, as the name says – essential and that your body cannot produce but must obtain from your diet.

Besides protein, fiber also plays a leading role in the hemp seed stage (especially with whole, not hulled seeds). If you’re unsure why you need fiber, ask your bowels next time when it’s time for the “number 2”. Fiber helps with regular bowel movements, which means your digestion will surely be on track!

Wondering how to incorporate hemp seeds into your chef’s menu?

Your imagination (or Google research) is the limit – you can prepare many delicious meals with hemp seeds, from veggie burgers and pancakes to hemp hummus, energy balls, pesto, hemp milk, pasta, and more. Hemp seeds can be consumed raw or added to various dishes. They perfectly combine with cereals, fruit, or as a sprinkle over salads. If you’re looking for more gourmet inspiration, here are some ideas on how to use whole hemp seeds:

#1 Hemp butter

Loving nuts & seed butter like tahini, peanut butter, and other yummies? You can do the same thing with hemp seeds! Add a spoon to your morning oatmeal, a scoop over the salad, or a spoon to the soup. Just blend them till smooth, and voila – you have your butter! You can store it in a jar in the fridge for a month.

#2 Cauliflower & hemp seed pasta sauce

Pastaaaaaa! How could anyone get tired of it? Here’s an idea for a nutritious sauce. Cook cauliflower in boiling water until soft (save water for now). Roast garlic in the pan. Put roasted garlic, hemp seeds, fresh lemon juice, salt & pepper, and fresh rosemary into a blender and blend until smooth. Then add cooked cauliflower and some water in which it was cooked and mix again. You should get a creamy, sauce-like texture. Add water slowly until you’re satisfied with the smoothness of the sauce. Transfer the sauce back to the pot and simmer over low heat. Serve with parsley, a dash of hemp seeds, and cooked peas if you like.

#3 Grow your microgreens!

Yasss, now you can grow your own microgreens for salads, burgers, or other dishes you wish to enrich and decorate with home-grown greens!

How to?

You’re gonna need:

  • Whole hemp seeds
  • Shallow tray or container with drainage holes
  • Organic potting soil or seedling mix
  • Water spray bottle

The process:

  1. Prepare a clean tray or container with drainage holes.
  2. Fill the tray with 2-5 centimeters of organic potting soil, creating a level surface.
  3. Spread whole hemp seeds evenly over the soil surface, ensuring good seed-to-soil contact.
  4. Mist the seeds and soil with water, ensuring even moisture without excessive wetness.
  5. Place the tray in a warm location (18-24°C), avoiding direct sunlight.
  6. Mist the seeds and soil daily to keep them moist, but avoid overwatering.
  7. After 3-5 days, when the seeds start to sprout and push against the covering, remove it.
  8. Provide 12-16 hours of light daily by placing the tray under grow lights or a sunny windowsill, maintaining a distance of 5-10 centimeters.
  9. Water the microgreens gently by spraying the edges of the tray or pouring water along the edges, keeping the soil moist but not saturated.
  10. Monitor the growth, typically ready for harvest in 7-14 days when true leaves develop.
  11. Use clean scissors to cut microgreens just above the soil surface.
  12. Rinse harvested microgreens gently to remove excess soil.
  13. Enjoy immediately in salads, sandwiches, or as a garnish.
  14. Store leftover microgreens in a sealed container in the refrigerator for a few days.

What is the difference between whole and hulled hemp seeds?

Well, as the name tells – one is hulled, and the others are whole. Whole seeds still contain a shell that is packed with fiber. It also gives your teeth some work because you’ll have to chew them gently. But no worries, whole hemp seeds taste amazing and are not hard to chew!

How does it taste like?

Nutty, yummy, hemp-like! What else could we say? Try it and see it for yourself.
